6 Week Challenge

Join the Pascack Valley Wellness Challenge 2018

This free six-week challenge from March 10th through April 23rd, 2018 is designed to help participants create and maintain a healthy lifestyle through nutrition, physical activity, and overall wellness.

The program provides:
- Free nutrition counseling from the registered dieticians at your local ShopRite    locations in Emerson, Northvale, and Hillsdale.
- Free and discounted fitness classes at local gyms and fitness studios
- Options for discounted health and wellness coaching

The Challenge begins on Saturday, March 10th at our kick-off event at the Westwood Recreation Department at 55 Jefferson Ave, Westwood, NJ. Join us from 11am-3pm to register if you have not already done so, receive your first screening, meet with a nutritionist, and learn about all of the free and discounted fitness and wellness classes.

Running Club
Sunday, March 11th, March 25th, April 8th, 7am at westvale park

Jodi Murphy will lead the group run.  All levels welcome!

Mayor's Walk
Sundays, 2pm at Westvale park

Mayor John Birkner Jr. will lead this group walk.  Walk as much as you like!  Bring your kids, bring your dog on a leash and join in on the fun!  All levels welcome!

Reiki Presentation
Thursday, March 15th, 1pm at the Westwood Library

Karen Foote is the owner and sole therapist. She's been practicing massage professionally since 2000 and Reiki since 2010. In February 2014 Karen was called to become a Reiki Master Teacher and opened up REBALANCE in July 2015.

Body/Spirit Connection
Thursday, March 22nd, 1pm at the Westwood Library

Rev. Rodney Haveman - How is your spiritual health and life connected to your physical health?  What can our bodies teach us about our spiritual life?  Learn about the ways our spiritual, emotional, and physical health are interconnected, and when we nurture our spiritual life, there can be increased health, wellness and wholeness in every part of our lives.

Lisa Bontemps, a Certified Health & Wellness Coach, will speak about achieving your healthiest weight.

Healthy Cooking
Thursday, March 29th, 7pm at the Westwood Library

Gale Herzing, owner of Wellness by Gale, will demonstrate how to prepare healthy meals.  Gale is a specialized health, wellness, and fitness coach.

Hypnosis for Smoking cessation
Saturday, March 31st, 11am at the Westwood Library

Mary Battaglia, Certified Clinical Hypnosis Practitioner, will discuss how hypnosis can help you beat the  smoking addiction   

Self Defense Class
Saturday, March 31st, 12:30pm at DP Martial Arts in Westwood

Doug Paik, owner of DP Martial Arts in Westwood will effective self-defense strategies for adults of all ages and fitness levels.

Wear comfortable athletic attire, shoes not permitted on training mats.

Optimal Posture for Optimal Health
Thursday, April 12th, 1pm at the Westwood Library

Anthony Walko, DC will discuss the importance of posture and the effects it has on your overall health. 

Behavioral Health Workshop
Thursday, April 19th, 10:30m at the Westwood Library
